 STEM Career Resource

A Girl Scout Gold Award Project by

Ella Brandon

Welcome!

This blog was created as a resource for high school students to learn about careers in different STEM fields from professionals, through interviews.

An overview of this website can be found first on the "Interviews" tab!

The audio recordings of interviews can also be found on the "Interviews" tab, in the blog posts. There are tabs along the top of this section, and if you click them it takes you to the blog posts.

Often in my experience, information on these career fields that is out there is either too general or too little to get a good idea of what it would be like to actually pursue them. I personally wanted to sit down and talk to people with real experience to gain their insights and knowledge for my own career journey. I wanted to share what I learned with other people as well.

This website can also be used as a supplement to the Girl Scout STEM Career Exploration badge. This blog was created to specifically help high school students, including Seniors and Ambassadors, but it can also be applied to Junior and Cadette badge earning in middle school.

Here is the link to the Junior and Cadette badge-earning instructions (PDFs):

Step 3 of all these badges is "Learn about the day-to-day" of STEM careers you are interested in. This blog can help complete this step by giving girls a research tool.

Requirements Met:
Each interview answers the research questions asked in Step 3.
1. What do people in the job do?
2. What skills do you need for the job?
3. How does this job make a difference?
4. What can you do today?
